Update from CPL 33 National President Brandy Moore White

Legislative Update The House has passed H.R. 2550, which would restore collective bargaining agreements across the federal workforce. This is a big step forward—but not the final one. The next hurdle is the Senate, where we need to gain more Republican support. Right now, only two Republican Senators are signed on.

We Pave the Way – A Message to Our Members

The Agency said we’re a roadblock. But let’s be honest: that’s not just wrong—it’s insulting.

We are the ones who pave the way.  We lay the groundwork for safer institutions, fairer policies, and a stronger workforce. Every grievance we file, every negotiation we lead, every stand we take—it’s not obstruction. It’s construction.

Roadblocks stop progress.  Unions build it.

When the Agency refuses to recognize our contract, they’re not just ignoring paperwork—they’re ignoring the very people who make this system work. They’re ignoring the officers who show up every day, under pressure, under-resourced, and underappreciated—yet still hold the line.

We didn’t create the low morale. We didn’t break trust. We didn’t walk away from the table.

But we’re still here. Still fighting. Still paving the way forward.

      Paving the way means:

Standing up when others stay silent

Protecting our members when leadership turns its back

Building solutions when the system breaks down

Refusing to let disrespect become the norm

We are the Council of Prison Locals C-33.  We don’t block roads. We build them. We pave them. We walk them together.

Brothers and Sisters of Local 0222
I want to take a moment to reassure you that your union is still here, standing with you through this shutdown. These are hard times and troubled waters, but we have been here before, and each time we have come out stronger than ever , and we will again.
We need to stay united and lean on each other, because we know the agency is not going to be there for us in the same way. Together, we can weather this storm.
If you need anything, I am only a phone call away. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We will do our best to put out information as soon as we receive it, and keep you updated throughout this process.
This is our time to stand tall. We don’t back down, we don’t break, and we don’t quit. Together we rise, together we stand, together we win.
      In Solidarity,
      Michael Guerriero
      President, AFGE Local 0222
